I always find it remarkable when God orchestrates situations to the benefit of a friend or yourself. Without knowing it, plans come together and you walk out the other side of the situation completely amazed by God's goodness, kindness and omnipotence.
This happened for me over the weekend when a close friend and I went to afternoon tea together as a belated birthday present to both of us. We spent two and a half hours catching up, eating yummy sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam and a couple of small desserts in a beautiful setting in the Shropshire countryside all washed down with a glass of sparkling wine and tea and coffee. My friend, especially, has been working so hard and really deserved this break and treat.
I'm going to break here for just a sec to let you know how I purchased this delicious afternoon tea. I love the fact that it cost me less than £14 for both of us to enjoy all those yummy treats listed above by purchasing the package through Groupon. Groupon is a super website that helps you to save money on services, products and events.
An added bonus is that there are often voucher codes that can be added to the already discounted price of the package; these are often found on the Groupon Homepage or with a simple Google search. However, this time, a fantastic plug-in tool, called Coupert, performed the search for me and saved me an additional 20%.

Get this... I almost asked if we could postpone our afternoon tea together. You see, for the past few weeks, I've been following a Keto diet - high fat and protein and low carb - in the effort to lose a few pounds before our big holiday this coming weekend. I had been doing so well too! Selfishly, I thought about the calories and all those carbs! However, my hard-working, lovely friend told me a few times that she couldn't wait until our Saturday afternoon together and I didn't want to let her down. I mean, I was looking forward to it, too, but I was quite anxious about the temptations that would be placed before me.
After a back-and-forth conscience battle about the possible impact a few carbs on my "diet", I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit that the time spent with my beautiful friend was more important. And of course, He was right.
In a quiet corner of the sunny tearoom, my friend and I were able to share our hearts with each other. I was able to tell her about something that only very few know about that, in turn, greatly encouraged my friend. My friend walked away feeling lighter and feeling so grateful that she was able to tell me what was on her heart as well. We talked about letting go, forgiveness and putting our trust in the Lord.
God is so good. I am so thankful for His prompting to not postpone the afternoon tea on Saturday. If the Lord is prompting you to meet with a friend, reconnect with a friend you haven't spoken to in a while or simply text or ring up somone you're thinking of, just do it. Follow that prompting - you may be surprised what will come of it!
By the way, yes, my body held on to each and every calorie and carb I ate that afternoon... but it was completely worth it to know that I served the Lord and my friend Saturday afternoon.
